SAILAUF, Germany, April 4, 2017 — Magna International Inc. is once again bringing OEM customer and supplier representatives from the all-wheel drive market together when it hosts the 13th annual European All-Wheel Drive Congress April 6-7, 2017, in Graz, Austria. Magna, the world’s largest independent supplier of 4WD/AWD systems to global automakers, will present the latest trends and developments in the fields of drivetrain technology and electrification at the international forum.

The first day of this technical program revolves around presentations relating to modern all-wheel drive concepts, electrified drivetrains, autonomous driving and all-wheel drive systems. Practical driving demonstrations at the Red Bull Ring, located nearby in Spielberg, Austria, will then round out the congress on the second day of the event.

All-wheel drive systems developed by Magna, such as the industry-first Flex4™ all-wheel drive technology that forms the technical foundation of Audi’s quattro ultra system, demonstrate Magna’s driveline leadership position as well as our advanced engineering and collaboration with our customers.

In addition, Magna continues to develop innovative powertrain products in response to global trends driven by legislation and consumer preferences that improve the environmental friendliness of passenger vehicles. New products under development include powertrain systems and modules for vehicles equipped with 48-volt systems (mild hybrid) as well as high-voltage systems (full hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicle powertrains).

“All of Magna‘s electrified powertrain products are based on a platform approach,” said Jake Hirsch, President of Magna Powertrain. “We are leveraging these platform modules to bring primary powertrain systems as well as electric AWD systems to our customers, and we have further strengthened our ability to provide complete powertrain systems with the acquisition of Getrag.”
