News Release - Magna is on Board the Ford S-MAX

Global market leader supplies drivetrain and cameras

SAILAUF, GERMANY, September 6 2016 – Magna International Inc. has equipped the new Ford S-MAX Vignale with innovative technologies. The sophisticated sports activity vehicle comes with the EYERIS® driver assistance system and a transmission made by recently acquired subsidiary GETRAG.

Magna’s EYERIS® system on the Vignale offers drivers an array of functions, such as guiding and distance lines in the rear camera view that allows safe manoeuvring. Moreover, a front camera with split-view technology provides a 180° view of the vehicle’s front surroundings and helps the driver quickly recognise pedestrians and objects.

Ford also relies upon Magna for its drivetrains. GETRAG, now part of Magna, provided the six-gear manual and six-gear dual clutch transmissions for the S-MAX Vignale. Moreover, the dual clutch transmission can provide even more agility for diesel engines if necessary. GETRAG Ford Transmissions, a joint venture, produced this transmission.
“We are excited to be fitting all Ford’s models with our innovative drivetrain technology. Ford’s trust in our transmissions through our subsidiary GETRAG is a testament to expertise, quality, and world class manufacturing,” says Jake Hirsch, President of Magna Powertrain.
